About the event
History Uncorked at Saginaw Vineyard
Featuring Karen Rainsong
Wednesday, June 24 at 6:00 PM
Join us at Saginaw Vineyard for a special History Uncorked presentation with Karen Rainsong.
Karen will share the remarkable story of the early Oregon settlers, the Applegates, and their generations-long friendship with the local Kalapuya people — a friendship that continues to this day.
The history of the Willamette Valley in the mid-nineteenth century will serve as the background for this presentation as Karen explores how this unique friendship came to be, the divisive politics of the 1860s, the legacy of settler-Indigenous relationships, and the reasons there was peace in the Yoncalla Valley.
Guests will also see clips from Two-Way Seeing, a video about seeing history from both perspectives.
